Crash

awesome

Crash is probably one of the best movies I have ever seen in my life. That sounds extreme, but it’s the truth. It knocked Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind off the number two spot on my list. I love it when the concept of the movie revolves around intertwining each character’s story, making them all equally significant, thus, producing a bold and memorable film such as this one. This film, like American Beauty (#1 on my list) presented reality so effectively using real people – the ones who actually have real problems and the audience is affected and afflicted by them. Crash, contrasting some big-budgeted flicks, which uses flashy effect to attract viewers, resorted to the traditional editing techniques, notable cinematographic shots, startling actors and one helluva screenplay to have the audiences focus on the story alone.

The plot is rather quite simple: racism and stereotypes, but I’m not surprise that no one until now has ever really tried writing it down on paper and making a movie about it. Shows how ignorant we all are and how normal racism and stereotype is in our society. That’s why in spite of the normality of racism, this movie was still a rude awakening for me. It really slapped me across the face and implied, “See, this is what happens around you - a brother down, and a sister molested. But it’s all good.”

The impact of this movie is so powerful that I might even give up on racial slurs. Yes, I admit, I find entertainment out of those blasted racist jokes, but hey, who doesn’t?

Anyway, watch the movie, I give it a four star (****). FOUR STARS Y’ALL! GO RENT IT, DOWNLOAD IT, GO NEXT DOOR TO YOUR NEIGHBOUR WHO HAS IT – JUST WATCH IT!
